Explore the Iconic Kimberley Wet Season
During the wet season, the Kimberley transforms into a vibrant, green oasis. By March, the region’s gorges are rejuvenated, teeming with life, and providing the perfect backdrop for exploration. Iconic waterfalls like King George and Mitchell Falls cascade in full force, offering unforgettable Zodiac trips to their base. Wildlife thrives in the rivers and floodplains, with birds, reptiles, and more making for exciting sightings. Dramatic skies light up each evening with stunning sunsets, and the intimate experience of fewer visitors allows for peaceful exploration of this vast, unspoiled land. Guests also have the chance to connect with the region’s Indigenous culture, learning about the significance of the wet season in their traditions. Exploring the Kimberley in March with Coral Expeditions is a rare opportunity to experience its raw beauty at its peak.

Exploring The Kimberley with Coral Expeditions
When we conducted the first exploratory cruise in the Kimberley over thirty five years ago, tourism there was unknown. Our pioneering crew had to rely on fishing lore to navigate uncharted local waters. But we fell in love with that vast expanse, carved by the powerful forces of nature – wind, rain and tidal flows. Since then, we have built our operations around the Kimberley. Our expedition crew are local experts who have been studying and exploring the region for decades. Today, we are proud to operate three Australian expedition ships in the Kimberley from April to September each year. Every voyage is different, with new discoveries and experiences.
Coral Expeditions Ships In The Kimberley
Our three Australian-flagged expedition ships are designed for the Kimberley region, featuring wraparound decks, private balconies, and outdoor dining to enjoy the balmy air and glorious Kimberley sunsets. Open-sided Xplorer tender boats allow you to take in the magnificent cliffs and thundering waterfalls up-close while sheltered from the harsh Kimberley sun.

So, you`ve booked a Kimberley trip but aren`t sure what to wear?
Thankfully a holiday is a great excuse to go shopping...
For excursions, pack lightweight, layerable clothing—shorts, skirts, or roll-up pants for wet landings, and a long-sleeved shirt for sun and mosquito protection. Comfortable walking shoes and wet landing footwear like reef walkers are essential. Don’t forget a sunhat, sunglasses, and hydration gear like a Camelbak. A small waterproof day pack will keep your essentials safe during excursions.
Onboard, you can expect a relaxed, smart-casual environment—no suit or tie necessary.
For those of you who have travelled to the Kimberley recently is there anything you wish you had packed more or less of? Let us know in the comments below ⬇️

Would you rather be 45 minutes late to dinner...
A.) Because you were stuck in traffic 🚖
OR
B.) Because you got to witness the most spectacular whale show 🐋
We choose B!
While Coral Discoverer was at anchor guests in the Kimberley were treated to whales playing at the bow for 45 minutes interrupting pre dinner drinks and dinner service.
