Australia’s Kimberley is a frontier land where Dreamtime myths and legends abound, a land inhabited by Indigenous Australians for approx. 60,000 years. Europeans’ influence on the landscape is a much more recent event. Listen to the knowledgeable Steve Cox, previously part of our Expedition Team onboard who has recently joined our in-office Product Development Team, as he walks you through some of the history of the Kimberley region.
Join us as we explore the natural phenomenon of the Kimberley. Learn about the rock-dominated coast, where the hills of the coastal plains and inland reaching valleys have been surrounded by sea to form over 2400 islands. This flooding by seawater and the formation of estuaries, bays and islands is a relatively recent event, occurring while ancestors of the Aboriginal people were occupying what must have been an ever-changing seascape.
With 12 years of experience guiding our guests through the Kimberley region as Expedition Leader, Steve Cox shares his knowledge of the natural phenomena that hallmark the Kimberley coast.
Explore Australia’s Kimberley region on an unforgettable small ship expedition cruise through an ancient landscape, where nature takes centre stage and Indigenous connections and exploration history abound.
