Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award Features Ian Morris

Renowned naturalist and long-standing Coral Expeditions Guest Lecturer Ian Morris will have his portrait showcased in the upcoming Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award.  

The Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award, celebrated annually, recognises remarkable accomplishments and contributions made by senior Territorians to their community. This year, Ian Morris stands out among the honourees, his portrait capturing not just his likeness but the essence of his dedication to the environment and education. 

The portrait, showcased at Parliament House in Darwin from the 1st to the 14th of August, is a tribute to Ian’s long life of achievements. It reflects his commitment to conservation and education, themes that have been central to his work with Coral Expeditions. As a naturalist, Ian has dedicated his life to studying and preserving the natural world, and by educating, he has inspired countless individuals to appreciate and protect our planet’s biodiversity.  

In his years with Coral, Ian’s helped countless ordinary Australians to appreciate the intricate relationships within our ecosystems, the importance of conservation, and the cultural histories of the regions we visit.  

Ian’s expertise and passion have made him loved, admired, and respected by our passengers and crew over the years, and his inclusion in this exhibition, is more than just an artistic representation; it is a narrative of a life lived in harmony with nature, a journey of learning and teaching, and a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

The portrait of Ian Morris will be revealed at Parliament House in Darwin on August 1st at the opening of the exhibition and will be on display until August 14th.
