Coral Expeditions receives full approval for 2022 summer season in Tasmania

Following the Tasmanian government announcement permitting small domestic cruise ship operation on 15 December 2021, Coral Expeditions confirms the commencement of their seventh season in Tasmania with a series of 12 expedition voyages throughout January to March and December 2022.

The permissions allow the local small ship operator to deliver the season as planned with no more than 99 passengers on board and with fully vaccinated and tested guests and crew. All cruises will operate within Tasmanian waters. Having forged a reputation for exceptional explorations of the remote Tasmanian coastline, Coral Expeditions have created unique itineraries that delve into the landscape, rich history, unique wildlife, culture and tastes of our island state.

‘We are thrilled to have the permits for our season confirmed,’ says Commercial Director Jeff Gillies. ‘We have worked tirelessly and in close collaboration with local authorities in Tasmania to alleviate health concerns. Our proven recipe of thorough health screening, small group numbers and remote natural areas is the safest possible travel experience available in these times.’

About Coral Expeditions

Coral Expeditions, Australia’s pioneering cruise line, has built its reputation with a unique style of immersive expedition cruising focused on nature and cultures. Starting with a single catamaran offering environmentally sensitive cruises on the Great Barrier Reef 35 years ago, the fleet now consists of 3 purpose-built blue water expedition ships – the intimate 72 guest Coral Discoverer and the 120 guest flagships Coral Adventurer and Coral Geographer. Each ship is designed specially to take guests to remote locations that large cruise ships simply cannot access. With shallow drafts, multiple Zodiacs, glass-bottomed boats, and signature ‘Xplorer’ safari boats launched from a hydraulic platform, guests can expect daily village visits, river expeditions or beach landings. An expert expedition team providing interpretive commentary, and the warm Australian hospitality onboard make for a very different cruise experience. Headquartered in Cairns, Australia, Coral Expeditions sails the outer Great Barrier Reef, the Kimberley coast, Tasmania, Cape York and Arnhem Land, New Zealand and further afield to the small Islands of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Coral Expeditions’ industry leading SailSAFE program laid the foundation for a successful year of voyaging in 2020 where over 85 incident free expeditions hosting over 3500 guests operated.
