Sara Walker

Chief Purser

Sara began her journey with Coral Expeditions ten years ago. Over the years she has progressed through the roles of Cruise Attendant, Senior Cruise Attendant, Assistant Purser, Purser and now acts in a senior onboard management position as Chief Purser.

‘My seafaring career began in Milford Sound, NZ in 2007 where I worked as a Nature Guide Team Leader for six years. I used to see the Coral Discoverer cruising in Milford Sound at least once a year! In 2013 I decided to move to Cairns, Australia to find a nice ship to work on, and warmer weather. Coral Expeditions was the first company I interviewed for, and I have been happily employed with them ever since.’

In her current role, Sara is responsible for on board crew management and guest satisfaction by managing accounting and administration, accommodation services, bar and dining room procedures, galley operations, laundry formalities, on board merchandise and generally planning and providing for all possible needs and wants of guests from embarkation until disembarkation.

Speaking of her life at sea, Sara says, ‘The crew become like your family, and you look forward to seeing them when you come to work. We are always going to different locations, experiencing different cultures and meeting guests from all walks of life.’
