Response To Omicron Variant

Dear Guests and Trade Partners,

In the past few weeks, Australia has seen a rapid spread of Coronavirus infections. Coral Expeditions has 93 voyages under our belt since October 2020 and have accumulated significant expertise in operating in this environment. Yet, the known characteristics of the Omicron variant (high degree of contagion, mostly asymptomatic cases and lower susceptibility to Antigen testing) create unique challenges for us and the travel industry in general. Our priority is of course to protect guest and crew health and the trust of our travel industry partners.

In response to this situation, Coral Expeditions will undertake the following:

1. Cancellation of voyages due to departure port or remote community health risks

To minimise risk of onboard infection, the following voyages are cancelled:

All guests and trade partners on these voyages have been contacted and offered the option of a 100% credit for a future cruise with us or a refund to the full value of their fare paid to Coral Expeditions.

We intend to operate all other voyages as planned with appropriate health risk mitigation steps. Coral Expeditions holds all licenses and permits to operate all voyages. In the event of any future cancellations, guests will be informed at least 7 days ahead of departure.

2. Refinement of SailSAFE health protocols

We recognise there are currently pressures on the health system for access to PCR testing. While we do have an additional layer of Rapid Antigen Testing at embarkation added to our process, our medical advice is that PCR testing is an essential aspect of our protection. Therefore, while a negative PCR test remains a requirement to embark our ships, we have extended the permitted window for pre-cruise testing out to 90 hours to facilitate timely results. Guests without a negative PCR test will not be allowed to board.

We are advised by our medical partners and health authorities that nationwide testing delays will resolve in the coming weeks.

GP screening requirement cancelled: In response to the reduced incubation period of the Omicron variant and the pressures on GP networks, we no longer require guests to undertake a GP screening 7-10 days before departure. Guests are reminded to take note of the health and fitness requirements for our voyages and take medical advice as required.

3. Liberalised reservations policies until 31 March 2022:

If guests are unable to travel with us for any reason, they can defer their travel with us to a later date. Coral Expeditions will provide a 100% cruise credit to the value of funds received by us. This cruise credit can be used to travel with Coral Expeditions on any voyage of the guest’s choice in the future. This allows guests to wait and monitor the evolving environment before making a travel decision. All guests and trade partners can contact our Reservations team in Cairns via email for assistance.

The overall objective of these changes is to reduce guest anxiety, maintain the integrity of our SailSAFE health protocols and give guests the confidence that we will be here and ready when they are ready to cruise with us.

We thank you for your patience and support, without which we would not exist as an independent cruise operator. This is a challenging environment, and we will always put the health and safety of our guests and crew first. We patiently look forward to welcoming guests back on expedition in the weeks ahead.
