Onboard SailSAFE Training with Xplorers

Cairns | Coral Adventurer July 21st – 23rd 2020  | 3 day intensive training course – Vessel crew and management

Our SailSAFE plan is pivotal to our safe return to operations for our guests and our crew and we are committed to preparing ourselves with the usual Coral Expeditions passion. After months in development phase, our team joined together onboard Coral Adventurer for a 3 day intensive training course led by our medical specialist Respond Global.

The course covered intensive theoretical learning about the virus and practical lessons and role play through all the key steps of our plan including;

> Pre-boarding screening, testing and prevention
> On board mitigation process and equipment
> Incident response scenarios.

The course was led by our specialist Dr Ian Norton and it was immediately clear that the investment and effort has built a strong level of understanding and confidence among the crew and management as we prepare for the resumption of sailing. As we can all see, the health protocols and responses are developing rapidly and we are continuously improving and evolving our plans.

On the final day of the course, we had a visit from 14 locally based Xplorer Club members, who attended a mini expedition experience and put the crew through their paces in real expedition scenarios. It was great to be reunited with some familiar faces and all guests shared a strong level of comfort and confidence that the SailSAFE plans will deliver an expedition environment that remains enjoyable and with an excellent focus on health and safety.

As always, it is our priority to keep our guests and crew safe while travelling with us and we continue to hold on any plans to resume until it is responsible to do so.

Sincere thanks to our Xplorers who joined us for their participation!

As we prepare to restart operations and do so safely, we understand the changed environment that the presence of COVID-19 has created. As always, it is our priority to keep our guests and crew safe while travelling with us. Not only that, but we want our guests and crew to have the greatest confidence that their safety and wellbeing have been thoroughly considered.
